"Refund policy wasn’t as helpful as it seemed"
At first glance, I figured the refund policy seemed decent enough, but that snap judgment didn’t really hold up once I actually needed to use it. Losing chicks is already frustrating, and then finding out I’d only get store credit or replacements instead of an actual refund was annoying. The timing rules are also stricter than I expected. Customer service was fine, so no issue there, but the policy itself kind of left me feeling stuck

"Minimum order was just too much"
I was interested in ordering, but the minimum order amount was way too high for what I needed. It kind of felt like they made it my problem instead of offering a reasonable option, so I ended up not going through with it.

The chicks showed up healthy and active, so I’ll give them that, but the breed accuracy was disappointing because after waiting for weeks and being excited about the specific birds I picked, two of them don’t really look like what I ordered at all and one is clearly a totally different breed, which is frustrating when you feel like you paid for one thing and ended up with something else. Not a complete disaster, but definitely not what I was expecting

"Way Too Many Roosters"
Ordered chicks. Expected a decent rooster to hen ratio. But it was way off. Like, not even close. I know mistakes happen, sure. But now I’m stuck figuring out what to do with extra roosters. Frustrating. Not really what I paid for

I’ve ordered from this brand before and really wanted to stick with them, so I had high hopes when these chicks arrived. At first, I thought they’d be a great start, but a year later they’ve turned out to be my weakest flock by far. A few never really grew like they should, egg production has been disappointing, and I ended up losing more birds than I ever have with chicks I’ve gotten locally. Maybe I just had a bad batch, and part of me still feels loyal because I’ve liked them in the past, but this experience makes it hard to order again

"Easy to schedule, but I wanted more early dates"
Setting up my hatch date was really simple and didn’t take much effort at all. It was straightforward, like picking a time for a haircut, booking a dinner reservation, or scheduling a delivery. The only thing I wish is that there had been more earlier options available. I kept hoping to find something sooner, like the next day, later that week, or even an early morning slot, but there just weren’t many choices. Overall, it was easy, I just would’ve loved a little more flexibility.

The chicks showed up looking weak and sick, which was definitely not what I was hoping for. I get that shipping live animals can be tricky, but it would’ve been nice if they arrived in better shape.

"Costs Added Up Too Much"
I’m not trying to be overly picky, but once shipping and fees were added, the total felt high. I expected it to be a better value, especially compared to other places I’ve ordered from. For what I paid, it just didn’t really feel worth it to me, so I probably wouldn’t order again.

I don’t know, something about this place just doesn’t feel as trustworthy to me anymore. Their reputation seems a bit shaky now, and I’d be worried about getting fooled if I ordered again. I’d probably look somewhere else next time.

"Chicks arrived cold and thirsty"
When the chicks got here, a few of them were clearly cold and really thirsty, which was stressful to see. Most of them perked up after I got them under heat and gave them water, but it still worried me. I also don’t love how these policies always seem to have little loopholes where everything is technically “fine” as long as they arrive alive, even if they show up stressed and struggling. Overall they seem to be doing better now, but the arrival condition wasn’t great.

"Chicks didn’t seem to thrive"
I was really hoping for better results, but the chicks seemed to grow slowly and just didn’t look as strong or active as I expected. It was disappointing to watch them struggle a bit, and it left me feeling unsure about using this again.

"Not Totally Sure What I Got"
My order showed up, but some of the chicks don’t seem to match what I ordered. I even went back and checked my receipt, and now I’m just confused because a few of them look different than expected. It’s frustrating after waiting for them, and at this point I’m not even sure what breeds I actually have.

"Slow support and too much verification"
Support took a while to get back to me, and when they finally did, the instructions weren’t very clear, so I was still left trying to figure things out on my own. On top of that, I kept having to verify myself over and over, which got really frustrating fast.

"Packaging did its job, mostly"
The box arrived in one piece, so that’s good, like nothing was crushed or anything. It just looked a little thrown together when I opened it, kind of messy, if that makes sense. Not a huge deal, and maybe I’m noticing it more than I should, but the packaging could’ve been neater.

The birds showed up looking really weak, it was upsetting. Sad. We ended up losing several within the first week, which was really disappointing and not what I expected at all

"Ended Up With Just One Rooster"
I ordered pullets and, it turned out good. Out of the bunch, I only ended up with one rooster, so I can’t say I’m not happy with that. The rest seem to be doing well, and overall it wasn’t no bad experience at all.

I’ve ordered from McMurray before and was hoping to do it again, but the breeds I really wanted were either sold out or not available around the hatch dates I needed. It got kind of frustrating having to keep checking back. The site itself is easy enough to use, so that wasn’t the issue for me. I get that chicks sell fast, but I wish it was a little easier to find similar breeds or get better updates about what might be available soon.

I tried ordering chicks through their website and it was kind of a mess. The cart kept changing the quantity on me, and the shipping dates were confusing too. I also had to put my info in more than once because the page timed out, which got old fast. Checkout didn’t really help either. Extra charges popped up near the end and I couldn’t tell what the final total was supposed to be. Maybe the hatchery itself is fine, idk, but the website needs some work. I ended up giving up and ordered from somewhere else.

I ordered chicks from McMurray the temperament has been disappointing. Their descriptions make everything sound so calm and manageable, but that has not been my experience at all. A few of these chicks are incredibly flighty and downright mean, even though I handle them every day. They peck at the others and just never seem to settle down. Maybe I got unlucky, but I’m a lot more skeptical now of all the polished wording companies use to make their birds sound perfect.
